Occurring Between January 1st and 6th
The Propers for this Sunday are by tradition assigned to
the Vigil of the Epiphany and , when used on the Sunday occurring between the
Circumcision and the Epiphany, should be said as there given. In some
places, however, on this Sunday there is celebrated the Feast of the Most Holy
Name of Jesus, the Propers of which are to be found amongst Propers for
Certain Moveable Holy Days, pages D 1 and following; and if this
Sunday do not occur, the said Feast is celebrated on January 2; but according to
a common Anglican custom, it is celebrated on August 7th and not in January.
