THE COLLECT

O God, who gladdenest us with the yearly Festival of the Resurrection of thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord: mercifully grant that we may so observe this temporal feast, that we may be found worthy to attain to everlasting felicity.  Through the same.

§ From today until the Saturday before Low Sunday inclusive, after the Collect of the day, is said only the Collect for the Church (as in Seasonal Prayers, given at the end of the following Low Sunday Mass), unless there is to be made a Commemoration of some Feasst.

THE EPISTLE

Acts 3.12 -- 19

In those days: Peter opened his mouth and said: Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?  The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.  But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you;  And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.  And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.  And now, brethren, I wot that through ignorance ye did it, as did also your rulers.  But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.  Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out

Priest:    Declare to us, Mary, the vision of thy journey:
People:  “I saw the tomb of Christ living: and likewise the glory of the Risen:
Priest:   Bright Angels attesting, the shroud and napkin resting.
People  Yea, Christ my hope is arisen: to Galilee he now goes before you.”
Priest:   Christ indeed from death is risen, so we know most surely:
People:  O King and Conqueror, grant to us mercy.
All:       Amen, Alleluia.

THE GOSPEL

St.John 21.1--14

AT that time: Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on this wise shewed he himself.  There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples.  Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.  But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.  Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.  And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.  Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher's coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea.  And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fishes.  As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread.  Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now caught.  Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken.  Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.  Jesus then cometh, and taketh bread, and giveth them, and fish likewise.  This is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead.

The Creed is said.

OFFERTORY  Psalm 78

The Lord opened the doors of heaven: and rained down manna also upon them for to eat: he gave them bread from heaven: so man did eat Angels' food, alleluia.
